Financial Aid

Saratoga Independent School is committed to serving students from a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds and helping to support as many eligible families as possible with financial assistance.

The Financial Aid Process

Our Financial Aid program is open to families with children in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. The original application deadline was March 8, 2024. We are happy to announce that due to our generous SIS Community, additional funds have been raised to expand and reopen Financial Aid for the 2024-2025 school year. Contact Director of Admissions, Colleen Fortune, cfortune@siskids.org or 518-583-0841. Our aim is to serve the families most in need among the families who apply for aid in a given year. Financial aid is not guaranteed; each family is expected to use all resources available to them in paying for tuition. The amount each family receives varies considerably depending on a family’s financial circumstances.  Awards are based on both demonstrated need and availability of funds.

If you received an award in a previous year, we will make every effort to award a similar amount in subsequent years, if demonstrated need continues, the student remains in good standing, and funds are available. However, applications for financial aid must be submitted annually, and aid is not guaranteed.

FACTS

SIS uses FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment to conduct a financial need analysis to determine a family’s financial need. FACTS provides an objective methodology for calculating a family’s ability to contribute to educational expenses. Financial need is defined as the difference between the cost of education and the expected family contribution, which is determined by considering family income, assets, family size, indebtedness, and necessary expenses.

Preference is given first to returning families whose completed applications are received by the March 8th deadline. Once FACTS has made a needs-assessment recommendation, completed applications are reviewed by the Financial Aid Committee.  Awards are allocated on a first come-first served basis. Awards for new students are made on a rolling basis after a student has been admitted and continue as the budget permits. Award notifications are sent by March 15th for current families and beginning on April 1st and thereafter until all decisions have been made.

How To Apply

All families applying for financial aid will need to complete an application and submit the necessary supporting documentation through FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment. You must fill out a new application even if you applied in the previous year. FACTS charges a fee that you will be asked to submit with your application. This fee is currently $35.

New Families

New Families may apply for Financial Aid after an admission application has been submitted. Apply for Aid online at: FACTS Management. Select Parent Log-in in the upper right-hand corner, and then Payment Plans/Financial Aid.
