Director of Finance and Operations
The primary responsibility of the Director of Finance and Operations will be oversight of the day-to-day non-academic, business operations of the school, including all accounting, reporting, business planning, budgeting, human resources functions, information technology, and facilities management responsibilities. The Director of Finance and Operations also will have responsibility for ensuring that the school is in full compliance with all licensing, state education requirements, and safety regulations. Additionally there will be direct involvement in marketing. The school is currently involved in an expansion project and the Director of Finance and Operations will play a crucial role. The Director of Finance and Operations will be a critical member of the leadership team, working collaboratively with the Director of Development and the Board of Trustees, and will report to the Director of School.

A bachelor’s degree is required, and an advanced degree or certification, such as an MBA is preferred. Additionally the qualified applicant will have demonstrated leadership ability, with at least 3 years of relevant experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with a variety of constituents including parents (both existing and prospective), foundations, vendors and the school’s Board of Trustees.

The Director of Finance and Operations can begin as early as November 2014.

Maintenance and Grounds Staff Member
Are you handy?  Do you enjoy organizing and keeping environments tidy and safe?  We are looking for someone with initiative, trade skills, and strong attention to detail to join our staff as a part-time Maintenance and Grounds person.  This could be an ideal role for someone recently retired who is looking for an opportunity to use their skills to keep our students and school environment safe, organized, and looking beautiful.
Responsibilities will include:
  • Daily spot cleaning of school facility
  • Light landscaping and grounds keeping
  • Light carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical
  • Ability to set up classrooms/meeting space and assemble furniture
Qualified applicants must be able to pass a NYS DMV check, NYS Sex Offender Registry and criminal background checks prior to employment and must be able to safely lift and carry at least 40 pounds.  The position requires work both indoors and outdoors and often during inclimate weather.  The position requires staff member to safely ascend ladders and conduct work at a height greater than 10 feet.
This is a part-time position, scheduled for 15-20 hours per week.  The rate of pay is $12.00 per hour. Qualified applicants should submit a resume to fkarlitz@siskids.org.
