View from the southwest corner of playgroundNovember 25, 2003 Welcome to a new vantage point. This is about 100 feet south of the school's water supply, at the southwestern edge of the playground.
November 26, 2003 From the southern end of the playground, so you can see along the back wall of the school. Today you can see that the playground area is several feet below ground level at the base of the well pipe (due north, just to the right of the huge logs in this shot).
November 29, 2003 The good weather is starting to disappear. Today we're getting snow showers, though it's not stopping a 3-man crew from putting concrete block on the new footings. They even made a tent in the trench to keep the snow off while they work. Stacks of concrete wall forms have been delivered as well.
December 1, 2003 It's cold, but it's sunny. The bulldozers keep lowering the grade to the south of the building. The concrete block guys have piled five rows of block on all the footings, so they're not here. The wooden forms are in place in the trenches, so now we're waiting for a cement truck, and some more trenching. Hope the weather holds for another week or so.
December 2, 2003 Okay, now it's cold and snowy. The trenchers are back, heading east along the south wall line. The bulldozer guys keep on pushing dirt north and east. You can see how much has been removed to the north, next to the well pipe (to the right of the huge logs).
April 19, 2004 We're back in business. Spring is here, the temperature is in the 70's, and the earth movers are busy. There's also one guy doing concrete block work. The north wall is nearly done, the west wall is finished, and the south wall's footings are poured. The east wall trench won't be dug until the heavy equipment is done inside the foundation boundary.
April 23, 2004 From here to the pipe at the north, you can see a lot of dirt has been moved. More resculpting of the hill to the west is happening, to eventually provide a slope from the playground up to the untouched forest's edge. Along the southern edge of the school, the western third of the foundation wall is done.
April 27, 2004 Today you can see the south foundation wall is finished! After the building inspector checks it out, the earthmovers will be able to backfill - put dirt against the foundation walls. Then the far east wall can be trenched and built. After all the walls are done, the floor slab can be poured.
May 20, 2004 This is today's best viewpoint from the west of the school. The shortened well pipe is hidden behind the stacks of insulation sheets right near the camera. Up the hill to the west, the trees are filling the forest in with dense greenery. Click here to go back to the main site map.
