View from Route 29May 6, 2003 You're standing across Route 29 from the new entrance to SIS. The present drivable space is to the left of center; the new driveway will be to the right of center.
September 10, 2003 Same spot, different foliage. Our wet summer turned a lot of things green. Some clearing has started where the new driveway will come out, but it's hard to see through the first 20 feet of vegetation.
September 30, 2003 The sign is up! Now everyone can see where the new school is being built. There's still a chain across the end of the driveway, with POSTED signs on it.
November 13, 2003 Part of the permitting process is putting down a gravel driveway, so construction vehicles don't track too much dirt onto Route 29. That's done, and the utility companies have put out orange flags to mark where their pipes and wires are buried, so no damage is done while the real driveway is being built.
April 27, 2004 Not much happening out here, except for a new color-coordinated sign.
May 27, 2004 They've started breaking through where the new driveway is going to be. Proper drainage has to be assured, so there's a 24" pipe going in under the driveway so water can move along Route 29.
July 21, 2004 The new driveway is open, though it's still dirt going in from the edge of Route 29. A new utility pole has been installed, and wires have been buried back to the building for power, telephone, cable TV and internet. Support pillars for streetlights along the driveway are in place as well. Since the sign has moved to this entrance, it must be official.
September 12, 2004 The driveway has been paved, and the SIS sign is installed.
