Construction ProgressPhotos of the construction progress will be taken throughout the process and posted here. We've been taking full-circle panoramic photos since Spring 2003, so you can see the progress from nine different locations around the campus. As the trees come down and the building goes up, you can see it all here, and you won't even need a hard hat or work boots. Even with all the changes happening on the site, wildlife is still abundant. Click here for a few photos taken during construction. The latest 360° photos (from north of the school and the driveway were added on September 7th.
This is the view of the pre-k area from the west-end playground door. There are two separate rooms, with a double-door connecting them. There's also a toddler-sized bathroom for the kids on the left, and lots of storage for lots of big toys. The door and hallway to the rest of the school is on the left half of this picture, just past the cubbies. The swingset from the Division Street building is outside the southern windows, waiting to be reassembled.
Here's Room 4 on August 24th, from the south-east corner. Rooms 3 and 4 have closets and a sink, so the main bathrooms won't get messy after art and science projects. You can also see the storage spaces for each kid's backpack, books, coat and boots. Each classroom has these cubbies installed.
The same room on September 8th, from the opposite corner between the sink and the cubbies. Doors are on, the sink is finished, the decorative floor stain has been applied, and teachers are starting to organize their spaces.
Here's the building on September 7th. We have a parking lot! Soon the crew will paint the stripes, while the teachers start unpacking their boxes of books and organizing their rooms. |
